Job Description
Manages, plans, organizes, and evaluates the operations, staff, and quality control of multiple laboratory disciplines and / or shifts.
Collaborates with other members of the leadership for overall organization, financial / budgetary, planning, personnel and management of the core laboratory.
Responsible for clinical, technical, administrative, regulatory, and financial management and improvement of core laboratory operations to ensure effectiveness, quality and efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Provides leadership to Clinical Laboratory Operations' team members, supervisors
and managers by communicating and guiding toward achieving department
objectives.
- Communicates and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.
- Develops and manages reporting departments' operating and capital budgets and
allocation of funds based upon reviews of department estimates / recommendations.
- Manages activities and staff; hires, trains, disciplines, and supervises staff.
- Evaluates performance and ensures appraisals are completed on a timely basis;
ensures scheduled staff hours and vacation provide adequate coverage; ensures
maintenance of employee and operational records.
Coordinates with internal stakeholders for a full service approach with prospective
clients and represents and appropriately positions the services for potential clients.
Develops protocols to assess resource requirements for new client opportunities
and finalizes pricing for the quoting team.
Develops standards for employee and department performance in partnership with
the other members of the leadership.
Motivates a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the
business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and
mentoring and performance management.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 6-10 years of technical experience, required and 5-7 years of leadership / management experience, preferred OR Master's Degree with 4+ years of technical experience.
