Description
The Communications Specialist is responsible for working directly with the Business Development & Marketing team and service line partners such as Administrative Directors, medical staff, departmental managers and other staff members to develop and execute communication plans.
Working with the Manager, the Specialist is responsible for implementing communication strategies consistent with the corporate strategic plan and brand identity and market position strategy.
The Communications Specialist is responsible for internal and external communications, including newsletters, news releases, community magazine, annual reports, quality reports, social media, web copy and other strategic communications.
Major Responsibilities :
1. Collaborates with service line partners to develop short and long-term communication objectives to promote a wide variety of initiatives enhancing customer brand loyalty, furthering the positioning strategy of the organization, driving revenue to the bottom line of the organization, and ensuring relevant, targeted messages are delivered to appropriate consumer, business decision-making, and physician referral audiences.
2. Develops concepts, coordinates copywriting, design and distribution of material for Bridges and Gundersen News(system wide internal publications), Gundersen Magazine (community magazine), MedLink News (referring provider publication), and other division or department newsletters.
3. Coordinates the writing and edits for external / promotional materials, advertisements and billboards, internal and external marketing campaigns, collateral material, and other projects as assigned.
4. Generates local, regional, and national news releases and other key strategic communications, using multiple media venues and sources.
5. Serves as a consultant resource for Gundersen Health System in the development of internal and external strategic communications.
6. Balances priorities to meet publication and project deadlines.
7. Provides communication support for the department and other areas to facilitate communications, problem solve and plan communication activities.
8. Determine the best medium to deliver messages to reach appropriate audiences using the latest technology, such as Internet, Intranet, newsletters, media relations, printed materials, electronic media, outreach, advertising and awareness, education, and personal connections.
9. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
10. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.
Education and Learning :
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in English or Communications or Marketing or Journalism or a related field
DESIRED
Master's degree in a related field
Work Experience : REQUIRED
REQUIRED
3-4 years in a corporate marketing or public relations department.
