The Staff Fire Protection Engineer will undertake design work for multi-discipline projects and develop comprehensive fire protection packages, encompassing fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke management, and life safety.
This role involves collaboration on various projects across a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.
Design, specify, and coordinate multi-discipline fire protection systems, including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, and foam / water fire suppression systems.
Address fire water supply infrastructure, covering fire water storage tanks, fire pumps, underground and aboveground distribution piping, and associated appurtenances.
Design outdoor fire suppression systems, including monitors, spray systems, and exposure protection systems.
Develop addressable and non-addressable voice evacuation fire alarm systems, including initiation devices, supervision devices, and audible / visual notification appliances.
Implement releasing systems for pre-action, foam / water, and clean agent systems.
Conduct fire protection calculations, including hydraulic analysis of fire water supply and demand, battery calculations, and voltage drop calculations.
Evaluate building and life safety requirements, considering building area and height limitations, construction types, fire resistive assemblies, occupancy classifications, hazards, building egress, and smoke management systems.
Provide construction administration, including coordination with field personnel, review of contractor shop drawings and calculations, field inspections, and testing of fire protection systems.
Perform site evaluations and document existing fire protection systems.
Prepare project budgets and cost estimates.
Ensure adherence to QA / QC processes.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of fire protection engineering experience (or equivalent).
Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of fire protection engineering experience.
Master's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering and 2 years of fire protection engineering experience.
Additional Requirements :
Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Familiarity with building codes, fire codes, NFPA standards, FM Global datasheets, military standards, and refinery / industrial API guidelines.

Ability to obtain and maintain access authorization to facilities and data of existing and potential clients.
Engineers in Training-EIT Certification (Preferred)
NICET certification in Water-Based System Layout (Preferred) or NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Preferred) or NICET certification in Special Hazard Systems (Preferred).
