TMAS Digital Systems Engineer (mid level)

Job Description

Torch Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Digital Systems Engineer educated in software integration management, digital materials management, and model-based systems engineering capable of testing, prototyping, and training to achieve authoritative digital ecosystem for basic, exploratory, and advanced R&D of munitions concepts and technologies.

This position is at Eglin AFB, FL. This position supports the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate, Integrations Branch within the Air Dominance Section (AFRL / RWID) on the TMAS A&AS contract.

The selected candidate will assist program managers in coordinating with various DoD modeling and simulation consortiums to facilitate integration and linking of Live, Virtual, and Constructive simulation capabilities.

The candidate will interface with senior DoD personnel to assist program managers with this coordination, and will gather information for the program managers from specific programs and simulation environments related to this effort.

The candidate will need to understand the capabilities of systems being modeled and assess the capabilities of the simulations used to model the systems.

The candidate will also need to integrate this information into a database and into SharePoint for consortium use. The candidate must also have some experience with prior or current detailed operational experience and knowledge with either Live, Virtual, or Constructive modeling, simulation, and analysis.

They must also display experience with construction of databases and SharePoint. Travel may be involved.

Daily activities include the following :

• Development of digital engineering requirements of agile, digital, open systems to ensure rapid S&T evaluation and transition of munitions technologies.
• Developing technical performance measures and complete technical evaluations of contractor proposals and deliverables to assess progress.
• Assisting with design and integration of databases, search features, data visualization, and automated processes to accelerate technical development and programmatic oversight of munitions technologies.
• Assisting with near- / mid- / far-term plans identifying technology areas for R&D to provide strategic materiel solutions aligned to directorate priorities.
• Facilitate interactions with industrial, international, and academic communities as well as other U.S. Government agencies on matters pertaining to new technologies and their application to solve operational requirements.

This position requires a highly motivated candidate with experience and understanding in one or more of the following areas :

• Working in a team environment with military and civilian scientists and engineers
• Architecting / developing software and using a digital environment; knowledge and ability to read and write code (python, C / C++, JAVA, Jira, Power Apps, Power BI, etc )
• Managing agile, digital, open programs
• Briefing and communicating with leadership and peers
• Integrating software tools in a digital engineering environment
• Executing DevSecOps in DOD environments (e.g. PlatformOne, CloudOne)
• Integration of multiple systems, and systems-of-systems
• Computer Aided Design & Electrical schematics

Job Requirements :

• Applicants must be a US citizen and have a SECRET security clearance with eligibility for a TOP SECRET. Inability to obtain and maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position
• Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to present technical and non-technical topics to event participants (small and medium sized groups)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or in a technically applicable field with 3+ years experience (Master’s preferred)
• A working knowledge of standard office software such as Microsoft word processor, spreadsheet, database, and presentation tools is required.

Preferred :

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable technical field.
• Comfortable with other people’s code : Reading, Modifying, Debugging, and Optimizing.
• Ability to work in dynamic environments and support multiple users; good creative problem solver with a commitment to assisting the team in building quality software
• R&D / T&E requirements for DoD
