Job Summary :

This position will work with the Fulbright Outreach and Recruitment department. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international academic exchange program sponsored by the United States Government.

Fulbright was founded in 1946 with an ambitious goal to increase mutual understanding and support friendly and peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

Led by the U.S. Government in partnership with more than 160 countries worldwide, Fulbright offers an expansive suite of life-changing international academic and cultural exchange opportunities.

The Assistant Director develops an outreach plan to reach diverse audiences of prospective applicants and to expand Fulbright’s engagement with higher education institutions in the U.

S. Additionally, the Assistant Director executes a comprehensive recruitment plan that leverages the campus network of Fulbright Scholar Liaisons and that supports individual applicants through application advising, virtual activities and digital resources.

The Assistant Director leads a team of outreach and recruitment professionals and collaborates across Fulbright teams to advance the Program’s mission and goals.

The Assistant Director works closely with Fulbright Program’s sponsor, the U.S. Department of State.

Essential Functions :

Develops an annual calendar of recruitment activities aimed at qualified faculty and professionals to generate interest Fulbright Program.

These may include targeted webinars, campus visits, and prospect management. Develops virtual and in-person trainings for Fulbright Scholar Liaisons with an emphasis on developing support for institutions that are traditionally underrepresented in international exchange.

Develops and coordinates mentorship activities for applicants.

Sets strategy and implements programs for alumni (including Alumni Ambassadors); develops strategic alliances and collaborations with value-aligned organizations and alumni-led groups;

seeks new ways to grow these collaborations and finds additional opportunities for bringing Fulbright to new audiences.

  • Directs the creation and management of a robust suite of digital resources to assist applicants in navigating the application process, including instructional manuals, tutorial videos, live / recorded webinars, and FAQs.
  • Conducts market research to identify trends and opportunities in the higher education industry that impact prospective applicants and creates initiatives to address these needs.
  • Analyzes data and key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of recruitment and outreach initiatives and adjusts strategies as needed.
  • Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and ensuring that services rendered align with all IIE policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for program budgeting and oversight.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience :

Education and Work Experience :

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Experience in or closely related to higher education institutions.
  • Experience setting and implementing strategy and goals in a rapidly changing environment and under tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner, with superior attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to work and problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop high-functioning teams.

Salary and Benefits :

  • Salary Range : $78,534-95,947. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
