Occupational Summary
The Program Coordinator is a full-time position reporting directly to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations Program and is a member of the Development and Alumni Relations team at the Sanford School of Public Policy.
The Program Coordinator must possess a strong intellect, work ethic, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
The Program Coordinator will have strong organization and interpersonal skills, and will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, curiosity and initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Creativity, adaptability, diplomatic skills, and a sense of humor are critical.
The successful candidate will have the ability to understand the big picture and be able to work across the department and with key stakeholders to manage projects.
The Program Coordinator will work to assist the Director of Development on prospecting and other travel related activities as well as work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and the Digital Communications Coordinator to develop and implement alumni engagement strategies and programs that will capture the attention of the school's alumni in ways that align with larger institutional goals.
Serve as the primary Sanford liaison to the Duke Annual Fund on the central communication plan (CCP) coordinating the development and delivery of compelling Sanford content in a timely manner.
In addition to the CCP, the Program Coordinator will support the Director of Development & Alumni Relations in the development and execution of an incremental Sanford Annual Fund plan with the goal of expanding the base of support for the Sanford Annual Fund.
To accomplish this goal, the Program Coordinator will coordinate with the Digital Communications Coordinator to develop a digital campaign to support both the CCP efforts and additional Sanford directed solicitation efforts throughout the year.
Work Performed
- Assist with portfolio management, campus visits and travel arrangements and follow up from travel of Director of Development including processing of travel expenses
- Coordinate and develop strategy for volunteer engagement and help identify alumni who currently volunteer and / or want to volunteer
- Assist with development and alumni relations events - logistics may include expense projections, vendor coordination, creating event materials, staffing on-campus events, and measuring outcomes
- Serve as point of contact for class gift activities
- Assist with annual fund solicitation
- Assist with prospecting and travel arrangements
- Compile and summarize information for regular or special reports from a variety of sources including DADD, alumni files, faculty, alumni and university administrators.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the development and alumni relations team, as well as school-wide programs, faculty, and staff.

EDUCATION / TRAINING
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
EXPERIENCE
Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in fundraising and or alumni affairs or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
