Job Title : Process Engineer
Department : James Operations Improvement
Scope of Position
The department of Operations Improvement is located at Ackerman Building, 660 Ackerman Road. Projects will entail traveling to anywhere in the James and Ohio State University Medical Complex.
The primary working hours are from 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm, but these times may shift when working on specific projects. An example of this is facilitating a process improvement team at 7 : 00 a.
m. or 6 : 00 p.m. with clinicians and performing value stream map observation on night shift for a period of time.
Supervisory Responsibilities include up to three Fisher Student Interns.
Position Summary
Provide operational assessments, efficiency studies, and observations of work flow to ensure the most effective utilization of resources within The James;
including evaluation of the impact of new technology, office layouts, and new construction layouts on operations. Provide support and technical advice to the continuous Improvement efforts of the The James, including participating in the development of educational services.
Facilitate process improvement teams in achieving improved operational performance. Support development of tools and processes used in process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in industrial engineering, process improvement, business operations management, or related fields required.
Prefer a minimum of two years of experience in continuous improvement. Health care experience preferred but not required.
Must possess good written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Knowledge of databases, computer software, spreadsheets, and graphics needed.
Green Belt certification preferred.
