Utility Project Engineer

We’re seeking an experienced Project Engineer with expertise in utility coordination and design for additional project support.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your utility knowledge to a range of large and impactful projects across the Bay Area, including roadways, highways, rail, pedestrian, bike, transit, and much more.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of everything utility-related as the main point of contact, managing all utility aspects from design through to completion while working closely with and building relationships with external vendors.

Minimum Requirements :

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET Accredited Curriculum or equivalent required.
• 5-10 years of experience in Utility Design and Coordination for Roadway, Highway, Intersection Projects, and Multi-Modal (ATP) Projects for Public Works and Caltrans Projects.
• Proven experience in managing and reviewing deliverables to ensure compliance with project and contract requirements.
• Organizational skills related to preparing and maintaining documentation and managing coordination activities, including meeting minutes, schedules, and correspondence.
• Experience communicating with construction field crews and providing oversight during construction; must be comfortable working on-site.
• Bid and Construction Support Experience, including RFIs, Shop Drawings, and CCO experience.
• Professional and strong communication skills, verbal and written, including attentive listening skills.
• Proactive and self-motivated mindset who is not afraid to seek out the information they need.
• Ability to build relationships and drive coordination among vendors, including staff, consultants, and clients; proficient in organizing and leading meetings, writing technical reports / memos, and creating technical specifications.
• Strength and interest in supporting project pursuits including RFPs and RFQs, as well as Project Interviews.
• Knowledge of survey and construction staking for utility relocations.
• Software Experience : Required : AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015-2018 Design Experience. Preferred but not required : Civil 3D Modeling Experience, Auto Turn, MicroStation V8i.
• Valid California Driver’s License with the ability to conduct project site visits, attend client / stakeholder meetings, and commute to BKF offices.
• PE license in California highly preferred, EIT minimum.

Compensation and Benefits :

The typical base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $144,000 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.

This is a salaried position paid biweekly.
