JOB RESPONSIBLITIES :
- Acts as department head in the absence of the HR Director.
- Trains and mentors less senior HR staff.
- Responsible for all human resource activities to include employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, and training and development.
- Checks in with HR Generalist to ensure all assignments are completed and escalates issues with assignments to HR Director as needed; to include :
- Ensures HR Generalist coordinates the recruitment process : Utilizes applicant-tracking system to post and advertise open positions;
- monitors and reviews applications, evaluates applicant skills and qualifications for employment, and makes recommendations to Supervisors;
interviews applicants and schedules interviews for Supervisors; ensures job vacancies are accurate.
Ensures HR Generalist coordinates the employee onboarding process : processes hire in applicant-tracking system; completes, analyzes, and tracks pre-employment requirements;
ensures new hire meets employment requirements, enters new hire data into HRIS, and coordinates orientation training.
- Ensures HR Generalist maintains Employee Authorized Driver Program.
- Ensures HR Generalist maintains Employee Locker Use Program.
- Ensures HR Generalist processes applications for volunteers, interns, and student nurses; ensures regulatory requirements are completed prior to patient access.
- Assists the HR Director with employee recruitment initiatives, including job fair attendance.
- Calculates and makes offers for employment.
- Manages the employee separation process.
- First point of contact for advising managers and supervisors with employee relations counselings, performance improvement measures, and ensures consistent documentation of all employee corrective actions.
- Assists Supervisors with effective staffing strategies.
- Maintains company salary structure, job documentation, and job evaluation systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : High school diploma required and two years of administrative experience required. College course work in business administration, finance or human resources preferred.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :
- Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision;
- Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
- Ability to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and / or ethical principles;
- Capability of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis;
- Effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Skill in operating a personal computer using a variety of software applications.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON :
- Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as State of Alaska Background Check and Drug Testing.
- Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to Human Resources within the first three (3) months of training.
- Must complete all mandatory in-services annually.
- Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray annually thereafter.
