Hillel Academy in Tampa, Florida is seeking an experienced high school STEM educator to enthusiastic about mathematics and the sciences and with strong interpersonal skills to inspire students and work collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
As the founding STEM educator for Hillel Academy’s high school, this individual will have the opportunity to envision a STEM program that truly prepares students for higher education and careers.
Hillel Academy of Tampa, Florida, an FCIS-accredited Jewish day school located on a beautiful 12-acre campus in the Carrollwood neighborhood is poised to be the Bay region’s premier pluralistic Jewish day school currently serving 225 children, their families, and the community aged one through eighth grade.
After fifty-three years of exemplary education and developing young minds and Jewish souls, the 2024-2025 school year will welcome its first cohort of high school students.

High School STEM Educator
Responsibilities & Duties
Plan, develop and execute lesson plans
Adapt teaching for individual students, small groups, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students
Evaluate student progress and the ability to meet course standards in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
As a Cambridge school, prepare qualified students for AICE assessments
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior
Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
Maintain professional competence through professional development opportunities.
Develop and nurture community partnerships to ensure core and signature program curriculum success
Additional Responsibilities
Assist in preparing for FCIS Accreditation Self-Study process
Uphold a faculty culture that is collaborative and empowering and in sync with Hillel Academy’s Culture of Chesed (kindness)
Encourage, foster, and maintain meaningful relationships with all stakeholders including teachers, staff, administrators, students, parents, Board, and major community stakeholders
Criteria for Successful Candidates
Innovating and creating STEM- based learning experiences for students
Ability to engage 100% of students in their lesson
If not already developed, the desire and ability to learn and utilize the Cambridge curriculum and pedagogy
Developing lesson plans that incorporate our Cambridge Learning Attributes
Using data to make informed instructional decisions via summative and formative assessment
Incorporating strategies to ensure all students succeed in meeting lesson objectives
Offering rigorous learning experiences where students do the majority of the thinking
Using technology to improve instructional outcomes
Desired Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, or commensurate experience, in STEM education or field
A passion for innovative and profoundly meaningful teaching and learning
The ability to inspire, excite, and guide students
The ongoing desire to refine practice
Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
A strong desire to take initiative and make a meaningful impact within a tightly knit, supportive, and involved community

Compensation Package
Base Salary
$50,000-$65,000 (10-months and commensurate with experience)
Note - in Florida, there is no income tax

Moving stipend up to $3000
Tuition remission for children (when calculating remission, the Hillel Academy’s employee salary is not factored into the calculation)
All employees with children at Hillel Academy receiving remission are required to apply for the Florida Empowerment Scholarship from the State of Florida
