Typical client base includes Department of Defense (DOD), United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) and many private companies in the Federal arena where Black & Veatch frequently teams for project execution in joint venture (JV) roles or utilizes a sub / prime contracting arrangement.

The Opportunity

As the Project Manager - Federal Services , you will have the opportunity to :

  • Manageall aspects of small to medium Design Services projects, including risk to cost, schedule, and quality
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction phase service scopes in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction
  • Manageand leadsmall teams of multi-discipline professionals
  • Identify requirements for the successful staffing of the project and coordinates staffing with discipline Department Managers
  • Coordinateand integratethe activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction phase services, and commissioning elements of the project, including the activities of all third-party companies contributing to a project
  • Supportbusiness capture processes by leading proposal teams for the successful response to client requests for proposal?
  • Supportmany aspects of Business Development in a seller doer role with an emphasis on client satisfaction and repeat business.

Actively leads Black & Veatchs participation in the Federal CPARS contractor evaluation system which is key to qualifying for future work with all Government entities.

  • Typical client base includes Department of Defense (DOD), United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) and many private companies in the Federal arena where Black & Veatch frequently teams for project execution in joint venture (JV) roles or utilizes a sub / prime contracting arrangement.
  • Assigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency / Department clients. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • This is a HYBRID opportunity with expected requirements of three days in office per week. Candidates located near anymay be considered;

however, there is strong preference for candidates located in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City); Arlington, VA; Denver, CO; or Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities

Typical monthly duties will include responsibility for client interface on all assigned projects, proposal support for new sales, typical project management duties including project profitability reporting, staffing oversight, schedule and progress control, quality, safety, and project status reporting.

All are accomplished with support of the project team depending on the magnitude of the assigned projects.This position provides ample opportunity to coordinate with other B&V Federal offices and to coordinate with other Black & Veatch Business Units

  • Manages?small to medium projects.
  • Manages?one to a few clients and / or projects.
  • Obtains?new / repeat business on small projects.?
  • Manages?project risk.

Management Responsibilities

Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any / all of the following : criminal / civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in managing facilities and infrastructure projects for DOD agencies, including developing qualifications packages, understanding and implementing Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), negotiating, executing and invoicing cost plus and fixed price task orders, and delivering both full design projects and design-build requests for proposals (RFPs).

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Typically 5 years experience in Federal and / or Government Project Management
  • Security Clearance
