POSITION TITLE : Janitorial Supervisor

DEPARTMENT MISSION
To assure the well-being of the facility and its occupants by overseeing the deployment of resident work details; staff janitorial and maintenance duties;
supplies and equipment used in physical plant jobs; stored and used facility property and that abandoned by residents; and potentially hazardous or dangerous substances and conditions.
OUTCOMES
The facility is continuously maintained at a level which complies with all Salvation Army, contractual, accreditation, and government standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates and enforces a multi-schedule for daily cleaning by the residents.
- Works with other departments to ensure the facility is always clean, sanitary, and free of safety hazards, and / or concerns.
- Oversees maintenance, repair, and secure storage of RRC property / supplies.
- Supervises and schedules resident work details.
- Ensures resident disciplinary work details are completed and documented.
- Manages and records all documentation.
- Ensures program vehicles are always in operating condition.
- Ensures program vehicles are inspected according to policy (weekly), cleaning, and minor maintenance of program vehicles.
Documents such activities, providing the same to the Business Manager.
- Program vehicles in need of repair are promptly removed from service until repairs are properly completed and validated.
- Regularly inspects program vehicles to ensure that necessary tools, registration, and insurance documents, first aid equipment, fire extinguisher, maps, spare tire, warning reflectors and related items are in place and in usable condition.
- Provide transport for staff, residents, and others for whom the Program Director or Assistant Program Director have approved.
- Conducts weekly resident orientation.
- Provides ongoing training on topics such as Toxic / Caustic / Hazardous Materials, Universal Precautions, and Communicable Diseases.
- Works with and in conjunction with Harbor Light / Freedom Center staff to ensure the RRC and its property is well maintained at all times.
- Must have a valid license, able to drive and pass the Salvation Army MVR check.
- All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Assistant Program Director. This position supervises the janitorial staff.
The Janitorial Supervisor works closely with the Program Managers, the Shift Supervisors, the Security Services Supervisor, and other staff.
In contracts related to this position’s duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.
PERFORMANCE MEASURMENTS
This individual will be evaluated on the basis of standards established by facility program directives.
Evaluations will consider the timeliness, effectiveness, and completeness of tasks performed and the results of internal and external audits, when applicable.
Fact-based opinions of training participants, peers, and superiors may be considered.
A performance review will be conducted.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but a high school Diploma may be acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience.
- Must have significant and relevant janitorial and maintenance experience, with additional knowledge of minor repairs such as patching and painting.

POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will keep the Assistant Program Director informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is required to do moderate to heavy physical work and must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch or reach.
Will also use standard office equipment.
- The work environment for this position includes an office and residential environment with a moderate noise level.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
- This would include but not be limited to such actions : resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients, and visitors;
