Software Engineer (Server-Side Focus)

San Francisco, CA / Engineering / Full Time Space is in our DNA. Orbital Sidekick (OSK) has a mission to leverage the untapped power of hyperspectral imagery (HSI) to address global environmental, health, safety and sustainability monitoring needs across industries.

OSK is establishing a space-based infrastructure of hyperspectral sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection and risk management.

Be a part of the team building SIGMA, Orbital Sidekicks platform for acquiring, processing, analyzing, and displaying hyperspectral imagery and related insights.

Orbital Sidekick is launching a constellation of satellite based cameras to take hyperspectral images. We analyze those images for telltale signs of oil leaks, forest degradation, and other issues.

Our software engineering team is looking to add people with experience building APIs, particularly those that manage and deliver geospatial information.

Our technology stack is Python based, but we will consider candidates well-versed in building services based on other stacks.

Required Skills and Experience :

• Minimum 3 years industry experience developing production APIs, preferably as the owner of a functional area
• Experience developing GIS services
• Familiarity with relational databases, particularly PostGIS

Preferred Skills and Experience :

• Python / Django development experience
• Cloud platform (AWS preferred) development experience
• Experience building scalable, high performance services
• Experience working in a team that used an agile process, such as Scrum
• Familiarity with git and Jira as this is what keeps our development sensible
