Rogers College of Law seeks applicants for the position of Director, Career Development Office (CDO). The CDO is one of the largest student services offices at the Law College, providing important career and professional development training, programs, and advising for Arizona Law's students and alumni.
- This position will have three (3) primary areas of responsibility : 1) supervising the administrative operation of the office, including the supervision of team members who provide front-line service across the spectrum of stakeholders;
- 2) advising students and alumni on career and professional development, with a focus on career advising related to the incumbent’s areas of expertise;
and 3) connecting employers to the College of Law through employer outreach and administration of structured recruiting programs, with a focus on cultivating relationships with employers in the incumbent’s areas of expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership :
- Assisting the CDO by supervising teammembers who provide front-line service to a full spectrum of stakeholdersincluding current and prospective law students, recent graduates and alumni,legal and legal adjacent employers, and members of the judiciary.
- Providing training, direction and instruction to assist CDO team members to optimally deploy key technologies, resources, andsupport to achieve CDO goals.
Student& Alumni Career Counseling :
- Providing individual career advising to law students and alumni to assist them in achieving short- and long-term career goals.
- Providing counseling on career pathexploration, job search strategies, and professional development, with a focuson the areas related to the incumbent’s areas of expertise ( privatepractice, public interest, government, judicial clerkships, and JD advantageopportunities).
Advising will incorporate advanced knowledge of the legal employment market and will require knowledge and experience in practice areas and staying on top of new trends.
- Reviewing student materials, conducting mock interviews, and collecting data on summer and post-graduate employment.
- Developing and delivering educational programming to students.
- Assisting other Law Collegedepartments in their efforts to recruit, retain, and provide value toprospective and current students.
Employer Relations & Structured Recruiting Programs :
- Nurturing existing employer relationships and identifying and cultivating newemployer relationships, with a focus on the areas related to the incumbent'sareas of expertise ( private practice, public interest, government,judicial clerkships, and JD advantageopportunities).
- Delivering high-quality support to meet employer's hiring needsand interests.
- Designing and executing structured recruiting programs that alignwith market sentiment, from concept to event-day delivery, with a focus on the areas related to the incumbent's areasof expertise.
Other responsibilities :
- In partnership with other College of Law departments, connecting students with existing financial support opportunities that are aimed at eliminating obstacles students face in reaching their career goals.
- Assisting the CDO in planning and execution of special events, which take place approximately eight (8) times per year and often require travel and work outside normal business hours.
- Staying current on national and regional trends in the legal employment market.
- Continually investigating and refining core CDO technology, CareerCAT, Arizona Law's job bank & recruiting system, for optimal use in connecting law students and graduateswith employers and employment opportunities across multiple modules : career advising appointments, job postings, interview programs, events, and job search resources.

- Ability to travel up to once per month within Arizona and nationally
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Track record of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Juris Doctor degree from ABA Accredited law school
- 5 years' experience in legal practice and / or higher education including 2 years supervisory experience
