POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for all production-related activities on 1st shift, through leading by example, ensuring a safe work environment, and managing, motivating, and coaching team members to efficiently manufacture products while meeting the manufacturing schedule and quality standards.
The Production Supervisor will also be responsible for overall plant scheduling across the injection molding equipment. The Production Supervisor will have full support from and report to the Director of Operations and will be a key site leadership role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for production scheduling, work orders, maintenance on shift, and mold changes throughout facility.
- Communicates production schedule changes with team members and other Shift Supervisors.
- Partner with Shipping to ensure scheduling is meeting customer’s On Time Delivery requirements.
- Drive 1st shift’s accurate reporting of finished good production and scrap and / or downtime by reason within company’s systems such as ERP and real time data tracking.
- Ensure quality products are produced on lines through periodic and defined quality inspections.
- Identify unsafe conditions and eliminate safety hazards through root cause analysis.
- Ensure all team members are working in a safe manner through coaching, driving behavior-based safety culture, continuous monitoring for unsafe acts, identifying maintenance concerns, slip / trip / fall concerns, etc.
Key member in understanding root cause, developing, and implementing corrective actions to eliminate hazards.
- Supports Operation Team members on plant floor as needed through floating the floor multiple times a day to check on consumable stock levels at production lines and resolving any team member maintenance or process related issues through communication with the appropriate team member, such as process engineering or maintenance technicians.
- Drive training and cross-training of team members across different injection molding production lines, auxiliary equipment, and other plant operations.
- Provide coaching and leadership to establish and maintain a strong, adaptable, and resilient manufacturing team. Along with communicating job expectations clearly, developing personal growth opportunities for team members, delivering positive reinforcement, redirection for correcting behaviors, disciplinary discussions, and performance reviews.
- Leads daily pre-shift meetings to ensure good hand off between shifts with focus on communication of production wins, positive small wins from the day before, issues, quality concerns, metrics, goals, etc.
- Coaches team members on continuous improvement, participates in Kaizen events, and drives improvement across 1st shift through inclusive participation of team members in Kaizen events.
- Inputs maintenance requests into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Partner with Human Resources on matters pertaining to team member relations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED, Associate to bachelor’s degree preferred (Operations Management, Engineering, or other technical discipline).
- Equivalent experience of 3 - 5 years minimum within a manufacturing environment, in a supervisory capacity. Direct injection molding experience preferred.
Strong mechanical and processing aptitude and working knowledge of injection molding machinery.
- Previous production scheduling experience is preferred.
- Must have very strong skills in the areas of leadership, team building, conceptual, analytical, organization and problem-solving, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and computers.
- Lean manufacturing / Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
- Previous ERP experience within manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to become forklift certified, if not already, is required.
- Very strong computer skills Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software such as company ERP system.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift, push, and move 45 lbs.
- Ability to work with hand tools.
- Ability to bend, move between equipment, and aisles of product.
- Ability to stand and move around production facility throughout entire shift if needed.
- Ability to sit at a desk and conduct computer work for extended periods of time if needed.
- Ability to become forklift certified and drive a sit down and stand-up forklift safely and efficiently.
