Summary of Role
The Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) is seeking a Nuclear Economic Strategy and Program Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in analyzing the economic landscape of nuclear power plants, identifying cost drivers, and developing strategies to catalyze markets for new nuclear power plants.
This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in economics and project management who can translate complex technical data into actionable insights and policy recommendations.
Responsibilities
Economic Analysis : Analyze and synthesize data from various sources to determine the actual operating costs of existing nuclear power plants and estimate capital and operating costs for new nuclear power plants.
Develop strategies to reduce new nuclear power plant costs and reduce cost estimate uncertainties.
- Research and Evaluation : Evaluate existing research and data on nuclear costs and economics to provide clear and concise summaries, highlighting the implications for policy and industry practices.
- Policy Development : Collaborate with the NIA team and external experts from advanced reactor developers, national labs, and other research organizations to assess the policy implications of economic and technical findings.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Communicate complex economic concepts to various stakeholders, including financial experts, investors, policy makers, and industry partners.
- Financial Communication : Engage with the financial community to advocate for advanced nuclear energy as a sound investment, utilizing strong analytical and persuasive skills.
What an Average Day Looks Like
Analyze the latest economic data on nuclear power costs, preparing reports for internal strategy meetings. Collaborate with experts to assess the financial implications of technical findings, and draft policy recommendations.
Engage in external stakeholder meetings, presenting findings to financial partners and policymakers, and discussing potential investment opportunities, strategies, and options to overcome barriers to deployment.
Qualifications
- Educational Background : Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly desirable.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in economic analysis, project management, or related roles, preferably in the energy sector.
- Analytical Skills : Strong quantitative skills with a proven ability to analyze complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
- Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical data into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Interdisciplinary Understanding : Ability to integrate economic, technical, and policy perspectives, fostering a holistic approach to problem-solving.
- Program Management and Fundraising Experience : Proven track record in developing successful programs and / or grant proposals and engaging with financial stakeholders.
