CoStar is looking for a Manager of Software Engineering within our Internal Systems group based in our Washington, DC Headquarters to lead a team of approximately 5-7 people.

You will be responsible for providing project definition and implementation through hands-on management of a software development team leveraging Agile Scrum development and project management best practices.

This position is located in Washington, D.C. and offers a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

• Lead an Agile software development team (approximately 5-7 people);
• Lead Scrum ceremonies;
• Deliver done-done features to customers at high velocity;
• Act as a player-coach, who can mentor & coach team members into highly productive team players;
• Promote can-do attitude, engineering mindset and collaboration as fundamental team values;
• Influence web application architecture and CI / CD pipeline improvements;
• Drive continuous improvement by focusing on engineering excellence;
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements, develop project plan and work schedules for use by scrum development team;
• Successfully implement software development projects to specification and within scheduled timelines and budget parameters;
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Agile teams to deliver large initiatives;
• Develop roadmap;
• Work with recruiting to identify, hire and onboard top industry talent;
• Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar’s business model / technology;
• Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be used to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices;
• Adopt an owner-operator mindset and demonstrate full ownership of the product and technical platforms;
• Act as 'Voice of the Customer' when participating in product readiness reviews.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college;
• A track record of commitment to prior employers;
• 7+ years of relevant development experience;
• 3+ years’ experience in modern web and database technologies;
• 3+ years’ experience building large distributed, API-driven systems;
• 3+ years of experience leading Agile Team(s);
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of Object Oriented Programming and design patterns;
• Solid experience with the following technologies; C#, .NET Core, and SQL Server;
• Experience leading technical teams, working through complex requirements and offering relevant, timely technical solutions;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience (direct reports, peers and senior management);
• Excellent team building, negotiation and consensus building abilities;
• Ability to motivate and build high performance software development teams.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React and Vue is desired;
• Experience with the AWS platform;
• Experience with non-relational databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB or ElasticSearch;
• Experience with relational databases (preferably SQL Server);
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration;
• Commercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonus.

This position offers a base salary range of $147,700 - $258,400, based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous benefits plan.
