Our Retail Distribution team manages AIG’s major broker relationships across all product lines, as well as driving new business activity.

Position Summary

AIG General Insurance has an exciting opportunity for a leadership role for Managing Director Heartland Region.

A successful candidate will have the proven ability to align and influence internal and external stakeholders, is an effective communicator, is able to build commitment and actively lead through ambiguity.

Key attributes for the role include high energy, collaboration, strong influential skills, presence, vision, broad insurance knowledge, and willingness to travel regularly within the region.

How you will create an impact :

  • Partner closely with Senior Management, Regional Leadership, national Product and Claims leadership, Communication & Marketing plus other functional groups to execute and implement both regional growth plans and individual broker business plans.
  • Responsible for overall production, including new business, retention and driving growth within the Heartland Region.
  • Responsible for managing all broker relationships within the region, inclusive of production results (new and renewal) as well as specific broker initiatives.
  • Drive a culture of pipelining and cross selling between lines of business to greater insure target submission flow for all AIG Retail product lines.
  • Develop relationships with the top tier clients in the region and work closely with the client engagement teams to deliver strong client retention along with opportunistic growth.
  • Strategically plan and facilitate Senior Management visibility in the region.
  • Lead a One AIG culture within their region across all AIG colleagues.
  • Responsible for Market and Competitor Intelligence understand the marketplace and educate the regional product and distribution team and home office as necessary.

What you'll need to succeed :

  • 15+ years of diverse insurance experience preferred.
  • A proven business development background in insurance with existing broker relationships in the region preferred. Underwriting experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills : Ability to lead multi-disciplined teams, mentoring and attracting / developing talent.
  • Ability to drive a qualified sales pipeline and manage to key success metrics.
  • Account Management skills and experience in successfully building trusting relationships with colleagues, insureds, and brokers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to effectively present to both small and large groups.
  • Must be able to multitask, have excellent organizational skills, along with problem solving required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or another related field preferred.
