Responsibilities
- Provides clinical instruction to students in the Clayton State University Dental Hygiene Clinic, adhering to the policies of the course, clinic, and University.
- Discusses with students their concerns and / or problems directly or indirectly related to the learning experience.
- Is responsible for assisting the student to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to an oral health care provider.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with new and existing clinical patients.
- Provides clinical instruction as needed to enhance student performance.
- Orients students to the clinical area and demonstrates proper procedures.
- Leads discussions and elicits information from students, which demonstrates that students are learning and accomplishing the clinical objectives.
- Maintains clinical standards and course expectations throughout each course.
- Evaluates and grades student performance. Discusses progress and performance with students at midterm for formal evaluation and again at the end of the course.
- Maintains the professional practice knowledge base needed to instruct learners in current dental hygiene practice.
- Communicate with the Chair of Dental Hygiene as necessary to resolve issues or concerns in clinical areas.
- Works effectively as part of the overall faculty team, demonstrating positive interpersonal relations, collaborating with other faculty members to meet student needs, and participating in faculty meetings.
- Participates in ongoing program evaluation activities.
- Maintains faculty expectations as required by the University and Georgia Board of Dentistry.
- Demonstrates proper respect for students and has a student-friendly manner in the conduct of the class.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree, Master s preferred.
- Preferred - Prior experience in education.
- Current Dental Hygiene Georgia license and current CPR verification.
- Must undergo a Criminal Background Check
Preferred Qualifications
Master s Degree in Dental Hygiene.
