Role Summary
This role ensures that all project phases are efficiently completed within the defined scope, timeline, and budget. The Senior Project Manager will liaise closely with customers and various internal teams, including Operations, Construction, Engineering, and Finance, to ensure project success.
The manager will be accountable for coordinating, documenting, and overseeing all project stages to meet company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily project deliverables and communication with the project team.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary program involving several stakeholders and significant financial oversight.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, driving consensus and accountability within the team.
- Identify and address risks, implementing best practices and lessons learned to enhance project execution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish clear project roles and responsibilities.
- Guide the team in developing a project plan, schedule, communication strategy, and change control processes.
- Conduct regular meetings with internal stakeholders and customer teams to track progress and address issues.
- Oversee the project’s financial reporting and customer-driven accrual processes.
- Complete project close-out processes efficiently to support organizational goals.
- Assign tasks and resources to project team members, ensuring clarity on project milestones and deliverables.
- Represent the company professionally within the workplace and in the community.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis, as well as MS Project.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- A self-motivated, team-oriented individual with a strong focus on quality and safety standards.
- In-depth knowledge of project management principles, strong organizational abilities, and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and work under deadlines.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, including 5 years in substation construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience within utility or contractor roles is a plus, as is prior exposure to the Entergy system.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external clients.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts, including probability, geometry, and trigonometry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in EPC construction and substation estimating.
- PMP certification is advantageous.
Additional Information
- Physical Requirements : This position involves both desk work and job site visits, requiring the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, use office equipment, and occasionally lift objects up to 30 pounds.
- Work Environment : Mostly professional settings, with periodic exposure to job sites that may have high noise levels and various physical demands.
- Schedule : Full-time, Monday through Friday, with core hours from 7 AM to 5 PM, plus occasional extended hours and weekend work.
- Travel : Approximately 80% based in Canton, MS, with up to 20% travel to other locations.
