Advertised Job Summary :

Under general supervision, performs general maintenance duties to include painting, plumbing, electrical, and other construction and maintenance tasks as needed to complete building modifications.

Ensures compliance with regard to safety practices and requirements as outlined by the university, School of Medicine-Columbia (SOMC), and OSHA policies, procedures and regulations.

Demonstrates commitment to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience :

Requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and / or experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

Previous experience in building maintenance.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Must be capable of planning, organizing and prioritizing work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to work independently and perform detailed work. Good reasoning skills needed. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment.

Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Job Duty :

Works with existing carpenter, painter, electrician, and other trades specialists in performance of tasks as needed. Works as a team member to perform all aspects of general construction / modifications and other duties as needed.

Utilizes outlined safety standards relating to each job. Ensures proper maintenance of various tools and equipment
