Pay Rate : $84 / hr
Duration : 13 weeks contract
Shift : 10hr Day
Guarantee Hours : 40
Your pay is based on whether you are in a local or travel position. A travel position is defined as residing more than 75 miles from the facility."
Job Summary :The PET Technologist (Allied) is responsible for performing PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging procedures to capture diagnostic images of patients' bodies.
This role requires operating PET imaging equipment, preparing patients for the procedure, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images, and adhering to safety protocols.
The technologist works closely with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate PET imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Prepare and position patients for PET imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals intravenously under the direction of a physician.
- Monitor patients during imaging procedures to detect and respond to any adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging results and any reactions to radiopharmaceuticals.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret and discuss imaging results.
- Perform quality control tests on PET equipment and report any malfunctions or issues.
- Stay updated with advancements in PET technology and procedures.
- Educate patients and their families about the PET procedure and address any concerns or questions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
Experience :
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a PET Technologist.
- Experience in administering radiopharmaceuticals and performing PET imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of PET imaging equipment.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
Skills :
- Strong knowledge of PET imaging techniques and radiopharmaceuticals.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficiency in operating PET imaging equipment and related software.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Understanding of radiation safety protocols and procedures.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to stay calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
