Position Summary
A career in Natural Gas Quality Assurance will provide the opportunity to develop and implement programs to establish and maintain quality and safety standards of existing products and services, as well as developing programs to focus employees on quality and safety improvements.
This typically includes assisting in development of policies, procedures, and methods to check product, material, components and / or operational quality and improvement.
This includes overseeing quality assurance engineering, in-process and final inspection, supplier / vendor QA engineering, and / or process excellence programs for SJI and their natural gas utilities.
Roles within Quality Assurance are responsible for assisting in the safe operation of the SJI natural gas utilities, including the development of strategic priorities, processes, and operating procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations, quality, and safety standards.
This also includes surveillance and safety of activities consistent with the company’s operating procedures and regulatory and / or legislative requirements.
This role also includes coaching construction inspectors, operations employees, and contractors regarding adherence to company quality and safety policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal codes.
The team is responsible for the compliance and quality assurance functions to ensure that corporate financial and strategic goals are attained within reasonable risk tolerances.
Essential Functions :
- Performing field audits and inspections to ensure internal employees and contractors are performing tasks in compliance with organization manuals and regulatory requirements.
- Performing (under some supervision) assigned tasks that support day-to-day activities and project goals.
- Reporting to jobsites to monitor field personnel activities to verify compliance with all SJI manuals and regulatory directives.
- Post auditing completed field work.
- Completing safety assessments on internal field personnel.
- Review of service record cards submitted by internal and contractor personnel
- Audits will include internal and contract employees. Company vehicle provided.
- Additional auditing activities supporting Records and Operations departments as directed by QA Manager
- Participation on the SJIU Standards Committee and other similar committees
- Most of the duties of this role will require field audits and observations.
TRAVEL : Primary reporting location will be Elizabethtown Gas Company, Green Lane Headquarters but will require field work as well as potential remote work.
May also require periodic support of South Jersey Gas Company.
Elizabethtown Operating Divisions, including but not limited to, Union, New Village and Flemington as well as South Jersey Company operating Divisions in, Glassboro, Waterford, Cape May, Atlantic and Cumberland.
Qualifications
Required Background :
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree - A minimum of 3* years of relevant natural gas experience.
Preferred Background :
Working with installation of gas facilities, distribution or transmission experience.
Preferred Skills :
- Prior Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Power BI.
