The Office of Academic Affairs is seeking (1) Director, Office of Research & Sponsored Projects to join the already awesome team taking the School of Public Health to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • The School of Public Health Dean’s Office Research Services is seeking a full-time Director, Office of Research & Sponsored Projects to :
  • Oversees pre- and post-award operations for sponsored projects within SPH
  • Provides oversight of all pre- and post-award activities for sponsored projects with SPH. This includes supervision of the work of grants and contracts officers within ORSP, and independent work on sponsored projects.
  • Serve as primary back-up for all pre- and post-award duties conducted by grants and contract staff. Pre-award activities include budget development, completion of federal forms, document review and upload, etc.

Post-award tasks may include expenditure review, setting up subawards, assisting with purchasing, invoicing, re-budgeting, progress reports, no-cost extensions, etc.

  • Provide final approval on all sponsored project actions (proposal submissions, awards, prior approval requests, progress reports, JIT submissions, NCEs, etc.)
  • Process all award setups for HPBS and PHS. This includes drafting award budgets, negotiating terms, and working with OSPA on finalizing all awards.

Monitors and follow-up on all actions pending OSPA and external action.

  • Conducts pre-review of faculty effort certification
  • Provide budget signoff / approval on all Personnel Action for sponsor-funded professionals.
  • Approve journal submissions related to sponsored projects.
  • Route Subrecipient Invoices to appropriate post-award GCO.
  • Monitor invalid funding report weekly.
  • Supervises ORSP team members for pre- and post-award
  • Assign, track, and monitor workload of GCOs. Assists with workloads as needed.
  • Meet 1-1 with team members to provide supervision.
  • Mentors and train staff and faculty on research administration. Trains GCO staff in standardizes processes for grants administration.

Ensure that all GCOs are adhering to standardized procedures.

  • Identify applicable professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Sets policy / practice for grant processes within SPH.
  • Creates written policies and procedure for all pre- and post-award processes.
  • Develop and implement internal processes, procedures, templates, and resources.
  • Maintains ORSP website to document policy and process.
  • Disseminates information to faculty and team about standardized processes.
  • Disseminate new and updated federal, state, and university regulations to faculty and staff.
  • Keeps resources up to date and organized on shared disk drives.
  • Serves as primary liaison for ORSP with other SPH offices
  • Acts as liaison for internal SPH offices that interact with sponsored projects.
  • Provide sponsored award information to College Communications Officer.
  • Develop Spectrum reports and provide data metrics to Associate Dean for Research and other college leadership
  • Identify accounting errors and work through resolution with GCO and finance team.
  • Review and assist departments in tracking course buyouts.
  • Compile summer payroll for finance and HR.
  • Collaborates with other GSU research office and other College Research Officers on GSU-wide initiatives
  • Communicates with OSPA Direct and VPs
  • Participate in Department Research Admin Leadership meetings to discuss challenge areas and work through drafting new processes and policies. Meet weekly.
  • Participate in University initiated for policy / process development, improvements, and implementations.
  • Disseminates new GSU-wide procedures to faculty and staff. - Serves as point of contact for systems changes that impact sponsored project operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

Bachelor's degree and six years of related supervisory / management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Research Accounting, Business, and 5 years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
