Lateral Link has been exclusively engaged by a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer seeking a highly skilled software and technology business lawyer.
Candidate needs deep experience in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and all aspects of advising a world class software company to serve as general business counsel to a Digital Solutions business, ideally based in either Denver, Austin;
or alternatively Menlo Park or Seattle, with regular travel to Denver and Austin. As an executive member of the Digital Solutions business leadership team, this lawyer will work closely with, and provide legal advice and strategic counsel to business leaders on leveraging advanced technologies, data analytics, cybersecurity, and software solutions to enhance the efficiency, safety, and performance of innovative digital products and services that enable customers to optimize their operations, improve maintenance and reliability, and drive overall business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Legal Counsel : Provide advice and counsel to business area leadership on a wide range of legal matters, with a particular emphasis on software development and delivery, incorporation and use of artificial intelligence (AI) both in the development and delivery of products and services, operational support, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
- Risk Assessment : Identify and assess legal risks associated with Digital Solutions' operations and develop strategies to mitigate and manage those risks effectively.
- Compliance : Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to aviation-related software and services, use of AI, data analytics, and software development and delivery.
Ensure Digital Solutions' compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Dispute Resolution : Assist in managing and resolving legal disputes related to Digital Solutions’ operations.
- Collaboration : Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business leaders, engineers, data analysts, software developers, legal and compliance colleagues, and other stakeholders, to provide proactive legal support and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Training and Education : Develop and deliver legal training programs and materials to enhance legal awareness and understanding within business area.
- Guidance and Counsel : Conduct research and analysis on complex issues facing the business, providing clear and concise guidance and counsel to internal stakeholders on legal and risk implications and potential solutions.
REQUIRED CREDENTIALS
- The successful candidate will :
- Have a JD and be licensed to practice law in at least one United States jurisdiction;
- Have a minimum of 6 years (ideally 8-10 years) work experience at a multi-national corporation and / or a reputable law firm; and
- Have deep experience in advising multi-national software or technology companies on software development and provision of related technology services;
including use of AI and preferably cybersecurity.
