The primary purpose of the manufacturing engineer is to run the assigned unit safely, reliably, and efficiently. The manufacturing engineer is responsible for unit operating performance to include production, raw material usage, energy usage, quality, daily performance tracking, troubleshooting, and basic unit optimization.
The manufacturing engineer adds direct value to the business by driving real time unit performance in these areas.
TARGETED OUTCOMES
Drive unit performance to operational entitlement with respect to yields, usages, reliability, and quality
Achieve annual operating productivity targets by maintaining a unit performance tracking program
Maintain accurate accounting of all unit production losses and drive actions to correct
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor unit performance by tracking key process indicators (KPI’s) and key operating parameters (KOP’s)
Maintenance of performance tracking tools to include setpoint or target changes
Basic troubleshooting and optimization of the process to address gaps identified through daily performance monitoring
Accounting and categorization of daily production losses
Drive targeted actions in response to performance gaps in KPI’s as well as production losses
Assist in tracking of unit regulatory compliance
Facilitation of MOCs originating from unit needs
Lead or assist in delivering technical training to operators
Assist with production planning, tracking, and closing
Maintain unit process safety information (PSI)
Interface with production engineering, process engineering and other site business teams
Optimize the current process using operational entitlement models
Implement advanced performance tracking tools
Implement new technology projects
