Job Summary : Echo Tech II
Responsible for patient care services utilizing ultrasound equipment to provide echocardiography exams in compliance with regulatory requirements for directed image acquisition;
also responsible for data generation for physician interpretation of exams, teaching and coaching ultrasound students, patient transport and schedule coordination.
Licensure and Certification :
- ARDMS or CCI credential in one modality
- Current BLS provider card
Education :
- High School graduate or GED equivalent.
- Experience with echocardiogram exams or completion of echocardiology training course (didactic / clinical training)
Experience :
- Experienced in adult transthoracic echocardiograms to include contrast studies
- Experienced in TEE and Stress Echo exams
Knowledge and Skill :
- Patient care in a hospital setting.
- Ability to follow the various protocols necessary for performing echocardiograms
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to work flexible schedules and take call as needed
- Strong organizational skills
- Problem solving skills
- Basic computer skills
Physical Demands Patient Care :
- Continuous standing / walking and occasional / intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle / operate medical equipment / devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional / intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens;
hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
