Summary
Performs various tasks under supervision to assist in the everyday operations of the feedlot by performing the following duties.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists in the receiving operation by branding, tagging, vaccinating, and sorting cattle.
- Cleans pens, scales, feedbunks, water tank drains, and water troughs to remove dust and sand particles in order to ensure healthy feeding facilities.
- Assists cowboys by opening gates and gathering livestock to scales, pens, trucks, and holding areas according to instructions.
- Makes routine repairs and performs general maintenance duties in the feedlot.
- Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.
Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situation.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
