The Facilities Department is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of CPS schools, modular buildings, annexes, and administrative offices.
The department ensures that the district’s schools and facilities are clean, safe, heated and cooled, and dry. Under the Integrated Facilities Management model, schools receive engineer and custodial services, interior repair work through various trade vendors, landscaping, pest control, energy management, and snow removal services.
Job Summary :
Reporting to the Facilities Staffing Manager, the Facilities Staffing Support provides professional assistance in staffing schools across the district.
This involves recruiting, interviewing and onboarding custodial candidates, supporting hiring events, and data entry & management.
The Facilities Staffing Support may be required to work up to 4 days a week.
The Facilities Staffing Support will be held accountable for the following responsibilities :
- Assist with the coordination of job fairs and ensure interviewers and interviewees are scheduled for events
- Compile and enter all interview questionnaires and candidates’ information following job fairs
- Onboard successful candidates in Taleo as well as support candidates with the application process
- Communicate onboarding steps to successful candidates as well as partner with the appropriate Departments to ensure a smooth transition
- Communicate new hires' information to Staffing Specialists and serve as a support agent when assigning new custodians
- Assist with other team tasks as needed
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Facilities Staffing Support must possess the following qualifications :
Education Required :
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience Required :
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience with all levels of management
- Previous experience working with confidential information
- HRIS or other technical systems experience preferred (Taleo and Kronos)
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.) is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of communicating and collaborating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to learn quickly, an eye for detail, good follow-through, positive people skills, and the flexibility to take on various tasks and projects within the department
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to plan, set priorities, and adapt to rapidly changing situations while meeting commitments in a timely manner and staying focused under pressure
- High standards of support personnel, ethical behavior, and professionalism; able to maintain objectivity and confidentiality with highly sensitive information
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to :
Establish / Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary / part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire.
Up-to-date on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
