Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Leader is responsible for assisting the Corporate Senior EHS Manager and the Site Director with tasks related to health, safety, and environmental hazards in the workplace as well as administrative needs for recordkeeping, audits, and EHS training for both facilities in Eugene.
Responsibilities will include :
- Preparing and conducting the monthly EHS meetings at the site.
- Reporting EHS regulatory requirements applicable to the Eugene site to Federal and State authorities (OSHA, EPA, DOT, and any other local government authority as required).
- Monitoring the EHS regulatory requirements (Federal, State, and Local) applicable to the Eugene site.
- Facilitating and performing Risk Assessments in conjunction with department heads as applicable.
- Consolidating the site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting to all site employees and to the Corporate Senior EHS Manager monthly.
- Assisting the Corporate Senior EHS Manager to monitor industry regulatory standards and best practices.
- Assisting in the development of safety guidelines and communicating them to the organization.
- Reviewing incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and assisting with the investigation process and appropriate preventive / corrective actions.
- Communicating and sharing incidents, near misses, and safety concerns across the site as lessons learned and opportunities for improvements.
- Escalating findings and recommendations from EHS audits and inspections (Corporate, Internal, or External) to the Site Director.
- Liaising with the site Department Heads to ensure EHS audits and inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies are minimized and corrected.
- Liaising with the site Department Heads to maintain all logs and documentation associated with EHS permits and regulatory requirements.
- Liaising with the site Department Heads to maintain and update as needed SOPs for all safe work practices and equipment.
- Maintaining filing systems regarding corporate EHS policy and programs.
- Facilitating the implementation and monitoring of contractors in conjunction with relevant department heads.
- Ensuring all employees are trained according to their hazard exposure groups and corporate and site-specific training matrices.
- Ensuring the site is aligned with the EHS Corporate guidelines and initiatives.
- Practicing proactive safe working techniques and reinforcing the EHS policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- Certified Safety Professional.
- Investigation Methodology (Root Cause Analysis).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field is strongly preferred.
- 3 or more years of relevant EHS experience.
Competencies
- Knowledge of chemical / industrial hygiene.
- Experience with common manufacturing equipment (reactors, dryers, etc.) is preferred.
- Strong problem solving and facilitation skills.
- Ability to quickly prioritize projects & workload.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced cross-functional team.
- Balance administrative and functional tasks.
- Must be highly detail-oriented and organized, able to work both independently and as a team player.
- Effectively communicate with peers and interdepartmental colleagues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite.
