Molex is seeking an Automation Design Engineer in Lisle, IL to assist in the development & design of manufacturing equipment components, assembly, stations, modules and machines as part of our DataCom & Specialty Solutions division.

Our Datacom and Specialty Solutions (DSS) team designs an extensive product line serving customers in telecommunications, datacom, hyperscalers, cloud, data center and storage applications.

What You Will Do

  • Support development teams (automation, product engineering, molding, CAE, quality, and operations) to ensure new introductions are robust solutions that meet our customers' requirements.
  • Limited daily interaction or supervision required on the process steps for completing NX design responsibilities.
  • Lead design review meetings and design detailing on required design work; ensures the manufacturing feasibility for each detail of mold.
  • Responsible for 2D and 3D CAD designs of manufacturing equipment components, assembly, stations, modules and machines.
  • Work with a Senior engineer to support functionality and design of parts to fit in larger assemblies.
  • Supports all projects in development which may include product testing, 3D models / 2D drawings, engineering changes and updating technical documents.
  • Work with Project Engineers and cross collaborate with manufacturing plants partners and integration teams.
  • Learn and understand end to end manufacturing line and process.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2D & 3D modeling using NX CAD software.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Managing design projects from front to end.
  • Experience using MS Project, SAP, and Procurement systems.
  • Dealing with external vendors.
  • Knowledge of Automation, Product Design, and Injection molding principles.
  • Technical knowledge of practices, terminology and tolerances associated with fabrication, machining, grinding, wire EDM and mold-making.
  • Excellent organizational skills, decision making skills, and able to prioritize projects.
