Salary Range : Up to $72,715 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours : up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Coordinate development of consolidated financial reports and analysis for the university and coach, mentor and develop accounting staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for the application of advanced accounting knowledge, supervisory skills, and abilities in the preparation of a variety of complex regular and special financial reports and statements.
- Oversees preparation, examination, audit, and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and other financial reports for the University.
Assesses and ensures accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Reviews work of accounting staff and provides guidance and training in the application of generally accepted accounting principles and system accounting requirements.
- Acts as financial reporting liaison with the university system and state comptroller personnel.
- Reconciles, researches, analyzes, and reports reasons for variances in accounts and appropriations.
- Determines the need to open and close major projects in the accounting system.
- Analyses business operations and identifies improvements for departmental processes and users.
- Evaluates and recommends appropriate coding requirements for departments making journal entries. Assists departments with understanding the accounting system.
- Participates in the interviewing process for accounting staff.
- Supervises student loan accounting process and reconciliations.
- Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans / procedures / protocols;
and participating in appropriate safety training.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of experience in a university, public, or governmental setting with knowledge of fund accounting procedures including a minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- A commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Proficient with financial accounting systems and software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions
Working Environment :
- Office environment.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.
Physical Demands :
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position primarily works remotely in Texas but may work on campus on an infrequent basis (approximately four days or less per month).
When an employee is required to work on campus, travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
