We are in search of a Senior Observability engineer to become an integral part of our Bedrock team. This pivotal role involves providing the infrastructure and tooling to help engineers understand and troubleshoot their services at scale.
This role will be responsible for our Observability stack and continuously improving systems to ensure high reliability and performance through unifying metrics, logging, profiling, and traces across Ford’s various business units.
As an internal developer platform, Bedrock empowers our service teams by providing managed cloud infrastructure, CI / CD, Observability, operational support, and innovative tooling.
Our goal is to expedite the development and deployment of cloud-based services that support our cutting-edge electric vehicle technology.
The Observability team at Bedrock builds the platform that all Ford engineers use to diagnose the health of their services at scale. The team’s scope includes :
- Logging
- Distributed Tracing
- Metrics Collection and Dashboarding
- Alerting
- Profiling
- Network Observability
You'll have...
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 3+ years of proficiency in at least one programming language : Go or Java
- 2+ years of experience building and observing scalable distributed systems.
- 2+ years of experience instrumenting cloud-based infrastructure.
- 3+ years of experience working across multiple technical domains including back-end microservices and both internal and external-facing tools.
- Strong understanding of performance metrics.
- Experience driving adoption of new solutions and technologies within a large company.

This position is a salary grade 8.
