Position Summary
Under minimal supervision of the Director of Distance Learning, the LMS Administrator is responsible for the configuration, operation, and administration of the Learning Management System (LMS).
This individual also trains and supports students, faculty, and staff in the design and / or implementation of educational technologies, multimedia, and distance learning programs.

Duties and Responsibilities :
Lead and act as a first line of support for students, faculty, and staff for campus LMS, Lecture capture, and other technologies supported by Distance Learning.
Collaborate with the Distance Learning Coordinator to ensure issues are resolved expediently
- Work with respective tier specialists to provide detailed system support, coordinate maintenance and manage assets for the LMS, Lecture capture, and other technologies
- Responsible for configuration and administration of the Learning Management System (LMS) for ENMU Portales, including monitoring daily performance of the LMS, database management, installing updates, supporting tools, and software integrations
- Manage the scheduling of system upgrades and archiving LMS content, monitoring and tracking the usage to maintain contracted server capacity planning
- Maintain and update LMS configurations and perform system testing. Some evening and weekend duty may be required for troubleshooting system operations and downtime
- Manage and create user account permissions and special access to the LMS for course reviewers, tutors, TA's, etc.
- Oversee the integration of the LMS with external vendor content, applications and software, and configure Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) connections
- Communicate with providers, monitor system performance, troubleshoot, and submit support tickets in collaboration with the Distance Learning Coordinator.
- Develop and maintain an open line of communication with the LMS provider regarding updates and system issues
- Communicate and collaborate with the University ITS department to oversee the LMS integration with the Student Information System (SIS), including troubleshooting data integration problems
- Compile and maintain data, create custom reports for internal and external leadership and stakeholders on data usage, storage, student activity, etc.
- Design and deliver technology workshops and training seminars in support of faculty professional development
- Work proactively and collaboratively with the campus community to improve the use of educational technology
- Develop and / or implement alternative delivery methods and technologies individually or as a team
- Act with integrity and represent the department accurately to the campus community
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements :
Bachelor's degree and at least one (1) year of educational technology or information technology work experience required.
Experience in the distance education environment as an LMS administrator, instructional designer, educational technologist, instructional technologist, systems administrator, or in information technology preferred. Master's degree desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Familiarity with current educational technologies and their uses
- Highly developed interpersonal and time management skills
- Experience designing and delivering formal and / or informal technology training and presentations to individuals or groups
- Advanced and highly effective computer and software skills and working knowledge of operating systems and instructional design, and managing data electronically
- Ability to identify problems, reason logically, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and research solutions by developing effective solutions.
- Working knowledge of course delivery via Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other distance education technologies
- Experience working with educational institutions and community organizations
- Highly effective planning, organizing, and multi-tasking skills, including attention to detail and highly effective follow-through
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, customer service, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
Working Conditions
Physical Demand and Working Conditions :
Work is performed during normal work hours with some evening and weekend hours. Work is mainly sedentary in nature with ten pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
Work requires the ability to move physically between various classrooms on campus. Work requires handling of objects with hands or fingers, talking or hearing, and seeing.
