Job Summary
Develops specific exercise plans for members seeking individual or small group training. Job Responsibilities
- Assists with the organization of special programs in the fitness area for the member population.
- Recruits and retains clients for personal training program. Assesses current physical conditioning levels and develops appropriate exercise prescription based on client goals.
- Demonstrates proper form for all prescribed exercises and ensures client executes all exercises in a safe, effective manner in their presence.
- Documents and charts exercise program for clients and advises on proper progression.
- Follows all procedures in a timely manner in regard to redeeming personal training sessions.
- Works with the Fitness Supervisor and the Manager of Health and Fitness to grow and develop the personal training program.
- Helps to maintain a neat and organized fitness area by returning all equipment to the proper place after exercise.
- Responsible for greeting each and every member with a smile and making themselves available to serve members when not engaged in a personal training session.
Strives to answer questions and to make members feel important.
- Educates members so that their level of member satisfaction, membership referral, and member retention will increase.
- Provides basic first aid and CPR assistance to members who may experience accidents or medical emergencies.
- Abides by uniform policy for fitness staff and possesses a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty with members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
- No experience required
- ACE-CPT - Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- ACSM-CPTC - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- NASM-CPT - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- NETA-CPT - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- NFPT-CPT - Certified Personal Fitness Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- NSCA-CPT - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- NSCA-CSCS - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- AEA-AFP - Aquatics Fitness Professional from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required upon hire OR
- NCCA - Nationally recognized specialty certification, evidence of training in a given specialty or related NCCA certification may be considered in lieu of currently listed certifications required upon hire AND
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position AND
- First-aid certification required within 90 days of employment in this position
