QUALIFICATIONS : At least 21 years of age and in good physical condition
Technical Degree in computer related field or equivalent job
related experience preferred
Minimum of three years experience in data entry preferred
Demonstrates a strong knowledge of and experience with
Windows desktop operating system, as well as MS Office Suite
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment
Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communications
Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities
Professional demeanor and an ability to interact with all levels of
management, office staff, and bus drivers
Must be self-motivated with strong work ethics, people skills,
dependable, and able to handle confidentially sensitive material and records
Must be able to think quickly on their feet and work well in a fast-
paced environment with minimal supervision
Must hold and obtain South Carolina bus driver’s certification
Must hold and obtain Commercial Driver’s License with a safe driving record, Third Party Tester Certification, and State School Bus Classroom Instructor Certification
REPORTS TO : Director of Transportation
SUPERVISES : None
JOB GOAL : Through training and monitoring of drivers, provide the safest transportation available. By providing student training, increase safety awareness of all bus passengers and school personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinates and conducts CDL and State Certification Training and Testing
- Coordinates safety and assertive discipline training for drivers
- Compiles and maintains certification records for bus drivers
- Compiles and maintains accident statistics
- Organizes and maintains confidential files and records
- Enters Transportation data into Powerschool
- Maintains Transportation Routing and GPS programs (TransFinder and Teldio)
- Work with schools on the Transportation software
- Answers telephones and radios in a timely manner
- Assists with preparation for in-service meetings
- Assists supervisors with distribution of current copies of route descriptions
- Drives daily schedule on regular and / or Special Needs routes when needed
- Drives district activity buses for random drug testing, education, and athletic field trips
when needed
- Keeps to assigned schedule
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school and activity buses
- Obeys all traffic laws
- Reports accidents and mechanical defects and completes required reports
- Informs the Director of Transportation of all accidents and mechanical breakdowns
- Works cooperatively with other departments and personnel
- Promotes good public relations through professional and ethical execution of job
responsibilities
- Participates in staff development programs
- Performs other duties as directed
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 240 days. Salary to be determined by the salary
schedule established by the Board
