Position Summary / Purpose of Position : Reporting to the Director of The David C. Driskell Center, the Archivist spearheads the strategic direction and implementation of archival policies and procedures, ensuring the preservation and accessibility of The Driskell Center’s ten archival collections.

They oversee the cataloging and processing of new acquisitions (including digitization and database entries with metatags) by other archivists and student interns, providing training where needed.

The senior archivist also provides onsite and remote research assistance and develops and / or supports outreach programs for the public via the creation of displays, exhibits, presentations, lectures, and workshops on the archival collections.

Some local travel will occasionally be required. Benefits Summary Top Benefits and Perks : Minimum Qualifications : Education :

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience :

Four years of experience in an academic institution or university archive. One year of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Demonstrated experience writing grants or participating in the administration of existing grants.
  • Knowledge of best practices and current trends related to archives references and outreach, as well as accessioning of born-digital materials.
  • Knowledge of archival content management systems and technologies. Experience with ArchivesSpace strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to set and modify work priorities independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including public speaking and scholarly communications
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations
  • High level of professionalism and integrity with the capacity to maintain confidentiality.

Preferences : Preferences :

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent graduate degree in archive administration from an accredited college / university
  • Experience with artist archives.

Additional Certifications : N / A Additional Information : Salary : $60k $75k commensurate with qualifications and experience.
