The Fitness Director (Member Experience Director) plays a vital role in overseeing both the operational and customer service aspects of the fitness facility, ensuring that all members and guests have a positive and seamless experience.
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the gym, including staff management, facility maintenance, member engagement, and the development of fitness programs.
Reporting to the Area Director, this role involves collaborating with all staff to foster a welcoming, organized, and well-maintained facility, with a focus on sales, customer satisfaction, member retention, and operational excellence.

The Fitness Director (Member Experience Director) will lead and train the fitness and member experience staff, implement marketing and sales strategies, track expenses to ensure the department operates within the allocated financial limits, process payroll, and ensure a safe and efficient environment for both members and staff.
This position is critical to the gym's success, directly contributing to member engagement, program quality, and overall community involvement.
Responsibilities
Objectives of this Role :
Ensuring Excellent Member Experience : Conduct new user orientations including an introduction to the fitness center, facilities, services, programs, policies, and procedures.
Conduct personal fitness evaluations and program orientations according to Arch Amenities Group standards and procedures.
Provide excellent customer service and monitor guest feedback using surveys and other customer care techniques. Supervise and follow up on guest requests and comments.
Supporting Operations : Oversee the daily operations of the facility, including implementation of marketing and sales strategies and supervising staff.
Assist with administrative tasks, facility management, and special events, ensuring that all facility services, programs, and policies are followed.
Submit all paperwork and financial reporting, including payroll, in accordance with Arch Amenities Group policy. Develop, through use of a template, a monthly and yearly management report outlining key facility statistics and a summary of daily operations.
Report any current or future concerns and, with Area Director's approval, forward recommended changes to the client. Establish tracking procedures for facility use.
Ensure all guest fees and corporate fees are correctly charged.
Maintaining Facility Standards : Ensure the gym environment is clean, organized, and well-maintained by conducting routine walk-throughs, restocking supplies, and addressing any maintenance issues.
Develop and maintain accurate facility maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance and repair.
Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for exercise equipment. Ensure safety and compliance; monitor gym access to ensure only authorized individuals enter, enforce gym rules, address safety concerns, and prepare any incident or accident reports and forward them to the Arch Amenities Group Area Director.
Staff Management and Training : Recruit, hire, train, and schedule staff, ensuring full knowledge of services, products, and operational procedures.
Create a team of service providers to meet all aspects of professionalism and service demands. Ensure all employees are current in appropriate certifications.
Assess all department and / or facility employees' progress continually; coach employees with positive reinforcement, and discipline, when necessary, fairly and consistently;
participate in annual performance evaluations, and, when necessary, assist in the termination process.
Marketing, Promotions and Events : Design, with the use of templates, forms, flyers, and promotional materials to be utilized in daily facility operations.
Develop member participation and recruitment plans; outlining in detail all promotions, fitness programs, and any expenditures.
Plan and execute regular gym events, promotions, and community engagement activities to boost member involvement.
Program and Personal Training Development : Design and oversee personal training and group exercise programs, ensuring all offerings are of high quality and meet members' needs.
Set monthly goals for personal training revenue and market, promote, sell, and track personal training. Maintain quality control of all programs Arch Amenities Group, personal training, and group exercise.
Establish tracking procedures for program participation.
Inventory Management : Conduct monthly inventory checks of supplies and retail items, restocking as necessary to ensure the gym is well-equipped.
Maintain a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and or products.

Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with gym management software, POS systems, and basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office).
Physical Requirements :
- This position requires the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk.
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to demonstrate equipment use for exercise training.
- Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates.
Education & Experience :
- Required : Bachelors in Exercise Science, Sports Management, or other health and wellness field.
- Required : Certification from a nationally recognized and 3rd party accredited agency such as ACE, AFFA, ASCM, NSCA, NASM and NSPA.
- Preferred : Minimum of one-year supervisory experience in a health or fitness facility setting.
Additional Information :
- Full-time position requires availability for mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.
- Will oversee multiple sites within 15 minutes of each other, must be able to provide own transportation.
- Must meet monthly KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) as set by Area Director.
