Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Regional Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives (Assistant Director) reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Development with a dotted line to the Assistant Vice President for Regional Philanthropy.

The Assistant Director is responsible for offering strategic support to the Regional Philanthropy and Development team at large, managing and executing programming for regional campaign volunteers, and creating systems to diversify the pipeline of new prospective donors on a national scale.

The Assistant Director will also be responsible for managing a portfolio of key regional volunteers. This position will partner with University Advancement’s Donor Recognition and Reporting and Donor Relations staff in developing a strategic donor experience plan in alignment with the regional engagement strategies implemented in each key market.

This position will be responsible for managing a portfolio of roughly 30-50 leadership annual level donors. In this portfolio, the position will execute the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of UO donors giving between $1,000 - $25,000 through multiple platforms including phone, email, in-person, video conference, etc.

This position will be responsible for the supervision of the Development Associates and will be expected to support their professional growth in development.

This position will also partner with the Senior Director of Regional Philanthropy Programs to develop training to prepare the Development Associates to advance to frontline fundraising opportunities.

The Assistant Director is required to cultivate and sustain strong collaborative relationships with development officers across Regional Philanthropy, Central Development, and Academic development teams to support a successful regional volunteer management program.

This position will be located in Eugene or Portland. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, and will need to work on campus approximately 4 days per week.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Two years of experience managing projects and / or new programs.
  • Two years of experience in development / fundraising / external relations; OR One year of direct experience working with and soliciting donors.
  • One year of supervisory experience or lead work responsibility.
