Responsible for athletic training services for practice and game coverage, including treatment of sports injuries, recovery, and rehabilitation for a successful return to competition.
Maintains the sports medicine program and athlete medical records, ensuring compliance with governing regulations and College guidelines.
This role may be required to work a fluctuating schedule to include nights, weekends, and at other locations.
What a day of an Athletic Trainer looks like :
Performs first aid and recovery healthcare for athletes including assessing injuries, providing treatment, and referring athletes to appropriate medical personnel.
Educates athletes, coaches, and staff on injury prevention and rehabilitation. Provides education and guidance to help prevent injuries and maximize physical conditioning and performance.
Designs and implements comprehensive rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
Prepares medical reports including injury reports, accident reports, rehabilitation logs, and other documents as necessary.
Serves as a liaison for insurance representatives in cases of injury involving medical claims.
Oversees the maintenance and proper use of athletic training facilities. Ensures the safe and effective operation of sport and fitness equipment and contributes to a safe working environment.
Coordinates and tracks athlete physical exam clearances, ensuring proper medical clearance is obtained for each athlete prior to the beginning of the season.
Oversees the implementation and maintenance of the emergency action plan.
Develops, implements, and monitors standards for the privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and adherence to health information in compliance with Federal and State laws and the college’s privacy practices.
Retains full access to protected health information (PHI).
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited professional athletic training education program
