Senior Design Engineer

Synergis’ client, a global services organization focused on connecting people, technology, and experiences, has engaged us in a search for a Senior Design Engineer to join their growing team! The Senior Design Engineer ESS will provide oversight through the design project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to construction administration support.

As the technical authority / lead on a project team, the selected candidate will be instrumental in the determination and execution of client and system requirements and will collaborate with support teams to bring Electronic Security System designs to execution.

Senior Design Engineer ESS Background and Scope

  • Mentor other design engineers based on the direction of the Design Engineering Manager and typically be assigned the most complex systems and client needs
  • SME for Physical Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection, Intercom Systems and how they typically interface with other low voltage systems and facility standard operating procedures.
  • Consult with our client’s end customer by compiling design estimates, attending client-facing discovery meetings, performing and documenting surveys / assessments.
  • Create Basis of Design documentation in effort to deliver best-fit, custom solutions.
  • Primary contributor for complex engagements
  • Work directly with end customers to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations.
  • Lead team on large projects
  • Manage change order process for deliverables and schedules based on customer needs.
  • Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and coordination information to support the architecture, installation and planning of electronic security solutions.
  • Oversee and / or develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation.
  • Develop detailed 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC drawings.
  • Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients.
  • Regular client interaction and contribute to the P&L performance.
  • Project lifecycle is important and learning the standards our clients are comfortable with is just as important as selling new technology and solutions where they fit
  • Develop long lasting client relationships to maintain the account on all levels in conjunction with other team members
  • Continued education through attending appropriate manufacturer training, attending or leading lunch and learns and continue online education.

Senior Design Engineer - ESS Requirements

  • Associates / bachelor’s degree required and / or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in technical systems design
  • Fluent in project phases / Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning.
  • Ability to compile design estimates, perform and document surveys / assessments, work directly with clients to create Basis of Design documentation and rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) budgets.

Fluent understanding of :

  • The construction process, installation, and integration
  • Architectural and construction drawings and specifications
  • Construction documentation, construction & commissioning

Proficiency with :

  • Bluebeam (Primary tool)
  • AutoCAD
  • MS Office 365

Certifications or training with :

  • Lenel - Critical
  • Milestone - Critical
  • Genetec
  • Lenel
  • Avigilon
  • Other relevant certifications may be required or preferred based on project requirements

Knowledgeable in the areas of :

  • Physical Access Control
  • Video Surveillance
  • Intrusion Detection
  • Intercom Systems
  • Understanding of how the above typically interfaces with other low voltage systems and facility standard operating procedures.
  • Detailed oriented, independent, self-starter.
  • Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages.
  • High level of problems solving and technical troubleshooting skills

Senior Design Engineer ESS Preferred :

PMP Certification a plus

Senior Design Engineer ESS Other :

  • Ability to get a government issued Top Secret Clearance is "nice to have", but absolutely not required
  • Hybrid work schedule - 2 to 3 days onsite in a Construction environment (first 18 months)
  • Employee must possess a valid driver’s license in their state of residence.
  • Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate.
  • Demonstrate a legal ability to work within the United States via I9 verification. Ability to work for any US based company without sponsorship now or anytime in the future.

The compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000

dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
