About the role
The Research and Development Engineer (#TEA #technoeconomicanalysis) develops and manages technoeconomic models to support process optimization and guide R&D activities to ensure projects meet sustainability, process, and economic objectives.
As with every model, validating results with real-world data is critically important and with LanzaTech’s technologies commercialized globally, the Research and Development Engineer will serve a critical role in incorporating operating data into existing models.

Responsibilities :
- Lead technology evaluation and process optimization through detailed techno-economic analysis, process simulation (Aspen, Hysys, or other modeling tools), and support experimental validation
- Develop, improve, and validate technical and economic models using data generated at lab, pilot, and commercial scale and incorporate industry best practices
- Support R&D, scale-up, feasibility studies, and government funded work
- Establish and maintain templates and workflows for process economic analysis
- Collaborate across R&D and engineering teams to evaluate new solutions and process innovations
Requirements :
- 5+ years’ work experience, excluding degree periods, in bioprocessing, petrochemicals, refining, or chemical industry environments
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing technoeconomic analysis to inform process development or process design. Preference will be given to candidates with fermentation experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills to internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a creative approach to science and engineering
Education :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering or related field is preferred.
