JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Administers imaging procedures according to department policies and procedures as ordered by physician / provider. Practices radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles for protection.
Functions in a single modality. Compassionately gives patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the patient. Acknowledges physiological and psychological needs according to policy and procedures governing department.
Assists Provider and / or Registered Nurse in preparing patients for medical examination by cleaning exam room and taking patient’s medical history and vital signs.
May assist Provider with various treatments or medication administration within scope of practice. Uses the JMH and Radiology Information systems pertaining to job specific functions.
Completes documentation thoroughly, legibly, and accurately according to department guidelines and in a timely manner. Actively participates in charge capture / cost containment activities according to specialty area expectations.
Ensures that designated work area is clean and stocked with supplies on an ongoing basis. Orders radiologic supplies and coordinates purchasing of supplies for department.
Operates equipment correctly and keeps Director informed of any needed repairs. Performs laboratory tests, including but not limited to, urine dip sticks, urine drug screens, and blood draws as orders by providers.
Communicates finding to Provider and / or patient and educates patient as needed. Searches for better ways of doing things by recommending and / or initiating suggestions for improvement of departmental operations and / or services provided.
Participates in orientation, education and self-development, including student training. Works well with others and supports team efforts.
Provides quality service to all customers (internal and external). Demonstrates flexibility and responsibility in accepting work assignments.
Responds positively to changing circumstances. Problem-solves systems issues within department. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING :
Two years post-high school education training in an AMA approved School of Radiology, with current registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligible.
Current Indiana license. Current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers required.
