Compensation :
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Role Summary :
The primary purpose of this position is to assist individuals who are blind or visually impaired with achieving competitive employment.
The Job Developer will plan and implement assessments and lessons for blind and visually impaired persons and assist individuals with disabilities with becoming employed.
This position reports directly to the Director of Transition & Adult Services. This position will collaborate with the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) staff and network with employers and other key community partners to connect individuals with employment opportunities that match their skill sets.
- Contacts employers to develop employment opportunities for students with disabilities.
- Researches and maintains current job listings and develops resources for students to identify current job openings related to their identified career goals.
- Conducts intake and needs assessment meetings with each job seeker and writes individual service plans based on their skills and goals.
- Plans marketing and outreach services to promote employer awareness of potential qualified employees with disabilities.
- Advises students on how to request disability accommodations in the workplace.
- Advises students with disabilities on job search techniques, including interviewing strategies, resume writing, cover letter development, and networking.
- Provides Job Coaching on-site at the client’s place of employment.
- Maintain a working knowledge of local and national resources and significant trends in blindness rehabilitation and employment development for people with disabilities through literature reviews and participation in seminars.
- Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms and reports and assisting clients with completing paperwork or online documentation related to seeking employment.
- Recommends equipment for employment for DOR clients.
- Drive students, as required, for instructional purposes.
