Description
The White Deer Park Nature Center is seeking a friendly, motivated team player to support daily operations, programming, and facility rentals for approximately 10-20 hours per week.
Examples of Duties
- Serve as point of contact for customer service at Nature Center
- Open / close facility for regular Nature Center hours and rentals
- Coordinate Nature Center classroom rental process
- Assist visitors and callers with requests for other Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department services (e.g. program registrations, shelter reservations)
- Process payments for programs and rentals
- Maintain records for visitation, rentals, programming, etc.
- Monitor park and Nature Center for the safety and comfort of participants
- Assist with care of Nature Center exhibit animals
- Help set up classroom for programs and events
- Perform other administrative tasks to support programming and facility and park operations
- Assist with Town-wide special events and other park programs as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be able to safely reposition classroom tables and chairs, including folding and unfolding tables and chairs and moving them about the facility.
Applicants must be able to safely lift / move heavy items (i.e., 25 pound bags of bird seed, boxes of supplies, etc.).
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be comfortable working independently and occasionally alone.
A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license with a good driving record are required.
Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire is required.
Proficiency with operating a multi-line phone system, Microsoft Office, and web-based registration software is preferred.
Must be regularly available to work weekends.
Additional Information
Preference will be given to applicants with a background in park / facility management, animal science, environmental education, etc.
A monthly staffing schedule will be completed by the supervisor in advance.
Individual work schedules will vary and may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
