Job Summary
Working under the direction of the Harbert College of Business Communications manager, the student writer will produce news briefs and stories for distribution on the college's website and social media platforms.
The content will help elevate the reputation of the college's among its stakeholders-current and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.
Essential Functions
- Conduct background research on story topics.
- Interview personnel and write news briefs on faculty and student awards, provide coverage of college-sponsored events and other newsworthy activities.
- May be asked to take photographs at events.
- Pitch story ideas to the communications manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student at Auburn University, majoring in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related field.
- Experience writing about newsworthy people, activities or events, preferably at Auburn University or another academic institution
Expectations :
- Possess an interest or knowledge of business-related topics
- Desire to sharpen their writing skills, while promoting the Harbert College of Business
- Willingness to suggest stories that may be of interest to fellow students
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Enjoy conducting interviews with fellow students, staff or faculty
