Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Nuclear Hardness Single Event Effects Systems Engineer for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division Engineering and Manufacturing team.

This role will be in Roy, UT and will provide enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Forces sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

What Youll Get To Do :

Your primary focus would be on modeling of electrical circuits to support evaluation of Single Event Effects Criticality Analysis (SEECA) with an emphasis on Neutron induced SEEs in ASICs.

The Nuclear Hardness Single Event Effects Analyst may also be responsible for supporting transient analysis for System Generated Electromagnetic Pulse (SGEMP) transients, Prompt Dose Date transients, Internal Electromagnetic Pulse (IEMP) transients, and capacitive discharge effects.

Higher level transient effects analysis and test planning may be required to verify lower level modeling and simulation results.

Other tasks this position would also become involved with are :

  • Executing the testing and / or evaluation / validation of an electrical component, subsystem, or system analytical models or actual system implementations during Radiation Effects testing.
  • This requires the candidate to establish a thorough knowledge of the operation of the circuit and its use in the system application, using that insight to assure testing or analysis is conducted in a manner consistent with its use in flight.
  • Developing test procedures and performing functional testing on electronic hardware for radiation testing.
  • Developing and presenting standardized processes, procedures, documentation, and training for a junior engineering team.
  • Preparing and presenting electrical engineering materials for requirements and design reviews.
  • Participating in Single Event Effects and related radiation effects requirements derivation, allocation, and development.
  • Evaluating uncertainty and risks associated with requirements and designs.

Job Qualifications

Youll Bring These Qualifications :

  • 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills of the English language is desired.
  • Experience with circuit modeling and / or system level design or test.
  • Previous program Single Event Effects Criticality Analysis experience.
  • Neutron Induced Single Event Effects Analytical methods experience.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have :

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance and able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1766.
  • Familiarity with SPICE SEE modeling.
  • ICBM weapon system experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)

This positions standard work schedule is a 9 / 80. The 9 / 80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.???

Salary Range : $142,500 - $213,700

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
