Job Overview :
The Lab Engineer, located at the Linde Gas US analytical laboratory in Burr Ridge, IL, will be responsible for maintaining the various sampling programs as required by Linde customers and the Quality Assurance Program.
This includes the CO2, N2, Ar, and Main Condenser sampling programs. The Lab Engineer must be willing and able to work in a highly structured work environment regarding safe and consistent conformance to operating procedures and work practices.
This role requires some travel within the U.S. and the ability to provide after business hours support as needed.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Schedule sampling with field personnel, ship the sampler to the plant location, receive and log the sampler arrival once it is filled and returned, perform the required analysis, record results and complete periodic and final progress reports, send reports to appropriate field and Operations support personnel, and upload all documentation to the internal SharePoint website.
- Ensure timely throughput of product through lab work queue.
- Repair samplers and perform sampler preparation procedure to ensure integrity of empty samplers.
- Carries out analytical evaluations for new applications as assigned.
- Operate and maintain the lab equipment calibration program to requirements including scheduling, cylinder ordering / maintenance, documentation, and repairs as necessary.
- Maintain the lab's ISO17025 certification, including hosting the annual external audit and completing the annual management review.
- Participate in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives of analytical process systems.
- Assist in commissioning and starting up of facility analyzers and analytical system components, including associated cylinders, tubing, purifiers, sample pumps, controls, and analyzer suites.
- Define training needs / opportunities and coordinate with manufacturers to provide the training.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills are required.
- Ability to write and interpret technical procedures and instructions.
- Ability to work on multiple projects during a given time frame.
- Industrial Gas experience is preferred.
- 3-5 years Lab experience
- Experience in gas chromatography, FTIR, and process analyzers.
- Electrical / Electronic aptitude preferred.
