Position Summary :
The Biomed Cyber Security Specialist is to support the operations of the Biomedical Engineering Department with regards to patching medical equipment.
These operations entail responding to and supporting with technical expertise, medical device network changes directed by IT, connected device inventory management, identifying fault conditions and remediating if possible, or contacting and teaming with the IT Security team to resolve issues.
The position will ensure clinical equipment systems are fully inventoried, interfaced and / or integrated with various information systems in a consistent dependable manner, as determined by the IT Security team in accordance with conventional networking and security practices.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for medical device integration service and support, which includes but not limited to :
- Supports, monitors and manages the Connected Device Inventory;
- Provides professional expertise, guidance and assistance in the area on Internet of Medical Things, Clinical Engineering-IT (CE CYBER) Systems, and Connected Device Inventory;
- Establishes themselves as the expert for the Biomedical Engineering Department related to networked and / or integrated medical devices and / or systems;
- Monitors clinical equipment that utilizes networking technologies;
- Responds to CDI trouble calls pertaining to data flow issues;
- Sets-up and configures of CDI interface hardware for use in the production CDI environment;
- Records activities related to support and project activities in Infor / EAM;
- Works with vendors on hardware and software patch implementation for medical equipment per Jackson Health System operating policies and procedures;
- Works with IT Security team and various medical device and software vendors to lab test solutions prior to being put into the production environment;
- Monitors and evaluates proposed software revisions to medical equipment systems and actively track and ensure that systems being upgraded;
- Supports projects and programs in the assigned area, which includes but not limited to : inventory, planning, and management of LAN / WAN-based and integrated medical equipment network devices;
- Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise);
- Ensures the Biomedical Engineering program and associates are capable of and maintain the connected device inventory with information related to clinical equipment in Jacksons' Infor / EAM platform including, but not limited to, IP addresses, MAC addresses, AE titles, OS information, firmware versions, application versions, security attributes, equipment criticality and recovery information;
- Serves as Biomedical Engineering project management representative for implementation of clinical equipment requiring network connectivity, interface configurations, and / or CDI;
- Provides timely advice to Biomedical Engineering and IT management regarding procedure changes required to maintain system and equipment stability;
- Provides input into policies, processes and procedures related to clinical equipment networking and medical devices.
Education
Associate's degree in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field of study is strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience in Biomed and / or cybersecurity. Particularly strong understanding and experience with IP network engineering and IT security a plus.
License / Certification
- ISC2's CC and CISSP in addition to ISACA's CSX and CISM certifications are highly desired, as are AAMI's CABT, CBET, and CRES certifications (or other comparable credentials).
