Job Description
The Carrier Relations Manager position will be responsible for communications with North American transportation providers, including responsibility for contract and price negotiations.
The manager must operate in an environment that requires a balance between cost and service that is specific to each account based on business needs and goals.
The manager will also be expected to manage projects as a direct primary contact with customers when performing benchmarking and bid management services in addition to other logistics related projects. Responsibilities :
- Manage North American transportation provider relationships
- Negotiate and finalize transportation pricing and contracts
- Benchmark current and prospective customers’ pricing and service levels
- Implement transportation provider solutions for new customers
- Initiate and manage carrier / client meetings
- Ownership of RFP process, RFP document creation and RFP project management
- Ownership of Carrier relationships
- Present RFP results to internal and customer teams
- Manage rates and rate structures within contract management and TMS technologies
- Interface with freight payment team to diagnose and solve pricing issues
- Assist customer service with transportation related issues
- Maintain a current knowledge of industry best practices and transportation markets
Exemption Type Exempt (Salaried) Job Requirements
Job Requirements :
- Must have experience managing domestic LTL providers
- Must have experience in the analysis of LTL rates including the ability to summarize results and present an LTL carrier network solution
- Working knowledge of Truckload and Intermodal rates, carriers, and processes
- Experience in Truckload carrier management and rate negotiation
- Proven track record of successful price negotiations
- Four year college degree
- Minimum 5 years working experience within the transportation / logistics field
- Project management skills
- Experience managing customer relationships
- Ability to present ideas and results to multi-level audiences
- Strong quantitative analysis skills
- Capability of working as both team leader and team member
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint. TMS software
